The Scottish Terrier was bred as a fierce hunter of rats, foxes, and other critters in the Scottish Highlands. It is considered one of the oldest Highland terriers. Scottish terriers were first imported to America in the 1880s and its popularity peaked in the 1930s and 1940s. Today, the Scottish terrier silhouette during the Depression-era advertising is most popular with textile makers looking to add a sporty, vintage vibe for their designs.
